electric fence system then we are all for it.
An electric fence generally requires regular maintenance.
The Speedrite Remote Control is designed to save you time
spent on maintenance so you can concentrate on more productive
tasks around the farm.
Using a remote control allows you the flexibility to work
on the fence without repeatedly having to return to the energizer
to switch it on and off. Should you discover a fault with
your fence while out on the property, or you wish to make
alterations to your fence system, no matter where you are
on the fence-line you can turn power from your energizer on
or off with the push of a button.
The remote works by sending high frequency radio waves down
the fence line which are then interpreted by the Speedrite
energizer as an instruction. The action is almost instantaneous,
so you do not have to worry about lag times. To double-check
you can use the remote hand-piece to show if any voltage is
present on the fence or listen for the audible note from the
hand-piece indicating an electric pulse is present.
To avoid any possible ‘cross-over’ from nearby
farms using their remote, 16 different frequency settings
are available for your remote to operate on. When you set
your energizer to receive a particular frequency, this means
you are able to use more than one remote for the same energizer
utilising the same frequency. This allows multiple workers
to hold remotes and so have the same amount of flexibility.
You can’t manage what you can’t
measure
Not only is the Speedrite Remote Control the most effective
on the market, it is the only remote to include fault finding
capabilities. The Speedrite Remote Control (ST102) and Digital
Fault Finder (ST100) give you the ability to quickly locate
shorts on your fence, saving you time and money.
The fault finder, unlike standard voltmeters, requires no
ground lead. It also measures more than volts, it measures
current flow (amps), crucial in detecting shorts on a fence.
The Fault Finder indicates the direction of the fault by detecting
the direction of the current flow toward the short.
Using the Fault Finder
Start near the energizer's leadout wires. Move down the fence
line following the arrow away from the energizer. Take readings
at regular intervals and at any junction points. The previous
current reading is shown briefly in the top right corner of
the screen so that you can compare the readings. If the current
reading suddenly falls, you have gone past a fault. Retrace
your steps to find the fault.

Current direction arrows
The large current direction arrows show the direction of current
flow. If standing ‘downstream’ of a fault, the
current reading will be low because much of the current is
flowing into the ground. The arrow will still point ‘downstream’
or away from the energizer, but because of the low current
reading you will know to move ‘upstream’ and towards
the energizer to find the fault.
In the example above, if you were to first put your Fault
Finder on the fence ‘downstream’ of the fault,
you would find a current of 6 A and know to move in the opposite
direction of the arrow until the current increases. This is
especially useful on long or complicated fences where you
may not know the direction of current flow.
